Engineer, Scientist and Entrepreneur in Biomedical Imaging (HKU, Stanford, NYU)

Dr. Russell Chan is the co-founder and CEO of E-SENSE Innovation & Technology. He obtained his B.Eng. in biomedical engineering and Ph.D. in electrical and electronic engineering from The University of Hong Kong (HKU). He was a post-doc at Stanford University in Neurology and Neurological Sciences, and New York University in Neuroscience, Tech4Health, and Ophthalmology. He was the co-founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of a Forbes Asia 100 to Watch Startup. He received the HKEST award and REVIVE CTO of the Year in 2023. Under his leadership, E-SENSE has received the Tech Impact Company of the Year at the Tech Fest Hong Kong Awards 2025, and Gold Medal with Jury Congratulations at the 50th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva in 2025. His focus is the research, development, application, and commercialization of state-of-the-art multi-modal and multi-scale biomedical imaging devices to improve quality of life. Dr. Chan is an elected Junior Fellow of International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM), and an elected Young Fellow of Hong Kong Academy of Engineering (HKAE). He is the ex-co member and the R&D focus group lead of the Hong Kong Institute of Engineers (HKIE) Biomedical Division.
